Connecting Rules to Job Sets

If you are using the Enterprise edition of PowerDetails, you are able to create certain rules that coordinate with your job sets.

This allows for rules to automatically activate and deactivate based around the bidding period for job sets, or for the rule to only affect jobs happening within your job set period.

Note: Rules cannot be attached to the job set type "Fixed Bid Date" since there is not a bidding period window.

Example Scenario

For example, let's say you have a job set that locks all August jobs until July 15th. This job set is based on seniority, and bidding will happen between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

You would like two rules to be enabled while the bidding is happening. These are described as:

  1. "You can only apply for up to 3 jobs during bidding"
  2. "You can only be assigned to a maximum of 180 hours per month during bidding. After bidding is over, you can have more"

Creating the Rule

To create a rule that can be connected to a job set, hover over Advanced then click Rules and Rules List. This will allow you to view any previous rules created.

Click the button at the bottom of the page to create a New Rule. To allow this rule to be connected to job sets, choose the Time Frame option, "Active During Job Set Bidding Period".

When building your rule, establish your limits and specific circumstances as you would normally. Based on your selections, you will see additional options in the Per section.

Basing the Limit on "Apply Date"

Example Rule #1: "You can only apply for up to 3 jobs during bidding"

If you would like to limit the number of applications that can be placed during bidding only, you can choose to Base limit on the "Apply Date". In our example scenario, personnel would be able to apply for a maximum of 3 jobs during the bidding period on July 15th from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. When the bidding ends at 5:00 PM, this rule would automatically disable and they would be able to apply for more.

In the Per section, select "Bidding Period" to ensure this rule only pays attention to applications placed while bidding is happening.

Basing the Limit on "Job Date"

Example Rule #2: "You can only be assigned to a maximum of 180 hours per month during bidding. After bidding is over, you can have more"

This is a rule that would be based on the "Job Date", restricting how many jobs within you job set period that someone can be assigned to. When bidding is happening on July 15th between 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, personnel would only be able to be assigned to a maximum of 180 hours for the month of August. This type of rule takes into account any jobs they had been manually assigned to before bidding actually happens. When the bidding period is over after 5:00 PM, they would be able to have more jobs.

Attaching the Rule

Once the rule for your job set has been created, you will be able to attach it to an existing job set. See Job Sets for instructions on how to create them.

To attach the rule, open your job set under Jobs and clicking Job Sets. At the bottom of the page, click to expand the Applicable Rules section.

Here, you will see any rules that have the Time Frame reference to "Active During Job Set Period". Simply check the boxes next to the rules you would like to become active while bidding is happening.

After doing so, you can then Generate Apply Times if applicable ("Seniority" or "Random" Bid Type). Note that you are not able to make changes after apply times are generated. If needed, you must click to Delete Apply Times to change your selections and then regenerate the apply times.
